Placement Counsellor Opportunities

Simpson House Counselling provides Continuing Professional Development (CPD) placements for counsellors who would like to develop their experience in working with people who are affected by drug use.  We have counselling placements to offer if you have or are working towards a diploma in counselling or have the equivalent training and experience. 

We provide:-

  • An extensive programme of Certificated in-house training on a range of issues including
      • Counselling substance users
      • Working with drug use
      • Working with adult & child protection concerns within counselling
      • Working with sexual abuse
      • Working with suicidal clients
  • Financial contributions (£30 per hour) towards the cost of clinical supervision provided at the frequency of min 1½ hour per month.  
  • Group supervision  - 1 hour every 4 weeks
  • Public liability and personal accident insurance whilst undertaking placement work approved and authorised by us.
  • A supportive working environment
  • An opportunity to gain experience working in the field of addiction

We have CPD placements to offer if you:-

  • Are able to offer a minimum of 3 client hours a week
  • Are undertaking or have a diploma in counselling or equivalent training and experience
  • Have commitment and genuine desire to work with addiction

As a BACP Accredited Service we require placement counsellors to work to BACP's Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy, the Ethical Guidelines for Researching Counselling and Psychotherapy and subject to the Professional Conduct Procedure for the time being in force.
