Our service aim is to improve the lives of people affected by drug use in Edinburgh and the Lothians.
We provide counselling for people affected by their own or another’s drug use, working with individuals, couples and families. The service is available to people aged 16 years or more and is available at Simpson House and HMP Edinburgh.We are an equal opportunities service and welcome people of all genders, cultures, sexual orientations, religious or ethnic backgrounds to Simpson House.
All our counsellors bring a knowledge of substance use and addiction to their work and share a client-focused approach which reflects the client's agenda and priorities in counselling. According to each counsellor's training, experience and continuing professional development, counsellor's draw on a range of counselling models and techniques in their client work. All our counsellors have or are working towards a recognised qualification in counselling at diploma level or equivalent and receive independent counselling supervision on a regular basis.
As a BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) Accredited service we are bound by its Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy, the Ethical Guidelines for Researching Counselling and Psychotherapy and subject to the Professional Conduct Procedure.
