How To View PDF Files

PDF files are the most popular document format used over the internet and can be converted straight from Microsoft Word, OpenOffice.Org Writer.

Although most programs will require a payment to create PDF files (There are free alternatives however) programs that allow you to view these files are free of charge and below are some of these programs.

Windows

Sumatra PDF: This is the most lightweight PDF reader on Windows operating systems. It’s completely free and open source. It has the fastest load time out of the others. This is the application I would recommend installing to view PDF files. The other good thing is that it takes under a minute to install on your computer.

Adobe Acrobat Reader: This is hands down the most popular application for view PDF files but it isn’t very resource friendly on your computer so please consider this then choosing.

Foxit Reader: This is a lightweight PDF reader that comes as a basic package and you can download some additional extras if you want but some will cost you.

Mac OSX

Macintosh operating systems come packaged with a PDF viewer by default. Look for a program called Preview.

GNU/Linux

Most of the popular GNU/Linux distributions are packaged with PDF views by default. These distributions include Ubuntu/OpenSUSE/Fedora. Distribution that use GNOME or KDE as the default GUI (Graphical User Interface) will include a PDF viewer usally called 'Document Viewer'.
