Sunflower Garden

Sunflower Garden works with children within the city of Edinburgh who are affected by drug or alcohol use in their families.
The service, established in 2003, is child friendly and child focused in its work, providing a range of therapeutic services to children aged from 5 to 18 years old.

The project aims to build resilience in children through improving self esteem, increasing confidence, and helping children to find ways of coping with their situations through expressing and managing their worries, feelings and fears.

The staff group is multi-disciplinary, with backgrounds in social work, education, health and counselling. Students from social work, art therapy, counselling and social care regularly come to Sunflower Garden on placement and a committed group of volunteers support the day to day running of the project.

The service welcomes referrals from health visitors, social workers, schools, drugs services, children’s services and GPs, as well as from parents and families.
